Nothing drives away potential clients like a website that looks like it’s from 1999. But if it’s been several or even just a couple of years since you last updated your website, you should consider having it rebuilt. To help you out, here are three things that every small business website needs:
You want your website to look modern and up-to-date, so simplicity is key. You need to get your message across in as few words as possible in a voice that sounds clear, concise, and personable to your ideal client. Fewer words means less clutter and jargon. That makes a cleaner display for you webpages and drives more conversions. Appealing images help to break up text and create a more personal and aesthetically pleasing user experience for your customers.
Online marketing has become a necessity for many companies undertaking their businesses on the internet. This is mostly done through websites and blogs which help companies market their products and services to the globe by providing relevant information to their target consumers. This kind of exposure opens up the market base for any online businesses to a global level. SEO services for your company website ensure high search engine ranking and, thus, more organic, as well as referral traffic to your website or blog. Your website will be ranked according to the context in the content and its relationship with similar high ranking websites linked to you. This traffic can be used to generate useful links and sales.
Web designers are often asked the question “does scrolling or clicking provide a better experience for users?”. Scrolling provides the website content on just a single page. More recently it has become apparent that users consider clicking more of a chore and that they prefer scrolling. The proliferation of social media networks has had an influence on user behavior. Infinite scrolling is a new trend in website navigation that extends rapidly from social media networks to any type of website. It would seem that more web developers are trying to add infinite website scrolling navigation on their sites.
The Importance of Clean and Well Written Copy for Your Website
The best method of gaining more traffic and keeping visitors on your site longer is by hiring a great copywriter. Your website may be the first impression people have of you or your business; if your site’s copy isn’t great it might be their last impression. Having your content written by a professional copywriter is a smart long term investment for your website, both in terms of SEO and visitor retention.
What are the biggest pitfalls of not having good SEO copy written? (more…)
On Oct 29th I had the privilege of speaking at Georgia Gwinnett College about Online Reputation Management and how that impacts job searches and your career. I had a blast and am grateful for all of the attendees! I promised them an online resource of the material we covered as there was not nearly enough time to get into the details of the subject matter! (more…)
6 Lessons Learned From One Month as an Entrepreneur.
Today marks day 30 of my second round as an entrepreneur. Here are a few things i have learned over the last month. I kept it short and sweet. I hope you enjoy.
1. Health is priority one.
Your health is everything. Without an able body you will never enjoy the fruits of your labor. Work hard on your business but work harder on your body and mind. Run, walk, ride, stretch, breathe and push yourself physically. (more…)
This week I heard a particularly interesting story from one of my co-workers while hanging around the proverbial water cooler. Mike, a gentleman who I discovered loves a good glass of whiskey even more than I, explained to me the recent changes that were scheduled to take effect at Makers Mark, a famous bourbon producer located in the heart of Kentucky. These “changes” had to do with altering the original formula by lowering the alcohol-by-volume (ABV) level. This tweak to the recipe was being made since MM had such high demand and limited production, so in essence, watering down the batches would allow them to ultimately make more product to distribute. Mike, as I quickly realized, was not your occasional whiskey consumer. He loves great whiskey and he absolutely loves Maker’s Mark. (more…)
In the age of information it is damn near impossible to put down the resources and pick up the pace on that little thing called action. As a small business owner you are bombarded with software solutions, productivity tips, time-saving tools and more marketing advice than you know what to do with. It is so easy to let these emails, status updates, blogs and late night internet crawls leave you paralyzed with ideas and action items for your business. So, it is no surprise that after digesting anything you can get your hands on you have a to do list a mile long but the phone still isn’t ringing… but there is hope! (more…)
I am sure you have seen a number of Apple ads in your day, i never watch T.V. and i have managed to see plenty of them. Their ads, like them or not, are VERY effective and if there is anything i have learned while building our company and helping others do the same it is to take what works for the experts and make it work for you.
When people hear organic/non-organic, they’d most likely envision the produce section at their local supermarket. Society has become not only aware but educated on the differences between the two and how it affects their personal lives. Although the familiarity with these options has grown significantly, many business owners are completely in the dark when it comes to organic vs. non-organic Search Engine Optimization or SEO. If you have a business online or just a website that you’re looking to draw more attention to, read on to learn more about how to make the best, cost-effective decisions to boost your search engine ranking.
